Fire Causes Extensive Damage to Single Family Home

(Brunswick, MD, September 16, 2013) – Frederick County Fire and Rescue units were dispatched at 5:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon to 24 Jeffrey Lane in Brunswick for the report of a house fire. The first arriving unit reported that fire was visible from the rear of a two-story single family home. The Incident Commander quickly requested a rapid intervention dispatch. Firefighters will be returning to the neighborhood this evening from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. offering free smoke alarms, replacement batteries, and safety information to residents. The bulk of the fire was out at 5:28 p.m. and firefighters continued to extinguish hot spots, monitor conditions and conduct overhaul. No injuries were reported. Investigators were requested to the scene and the fire remains under investigation. Initial damage estimates place the total loss at $250,000.00. The fire caused extensive damage to the home and the American Red Cross offered assistance to the residents who were displaced by the fire.
